Maggie Parr
As a former Walt Disney Imagineer, Maggie Parr has created artwork and designs for Disney theme parks around the world. Renowned for her Renaissance and modernist portraits, her Classics Series not only honor Disney characters, but also stand alone as fine works of art. Parr has studied with several master artists, and is an expert in the classical style of indirect layer painting. She has toured Europe several times, developing a deep appreciation for art, architecture and history. These journeys stimulated her imagination and sense of magic, and of course, her interest in art and design.
Parr has always enjoyed creating fantasy worlds. As a child, she built her own haunted houses, carnivals and town fairs. Drawing for hours on end, she designed and illustrated stories, characters, and game environments. At 17, she received a full scholarship to attend Pomona College in Southern California. After graduating with honors in Fine Arts, she was hired as the youngest show designer at Imagineering, where she expanded her skills in architectural theming and concept design for 3-D environments. Her most notable projects from this period include Toontown in Disneyland and Beastlie Kingdomme in Animal Kingdom. Now a freelance artist, Parr has built a successful business designing themed environments for Imagineering and other companies. Integrating her expertise as a fine artist with her architectural design skills, she has also created murals and portraits for many locations, including Tokyo DisneySea, Hong Kong Disneyland, World of Disney Stores, Worldport, and Americana at Brand.
In addition, she has developed gifts, graphics, and textiles featuring Disney and other licensed characters.
Parr's long history with the Walt Disney Company reflects her love and appreciation for the Disney brand and its characters.
